About Carolton
Carolton was born in North Carolina. She attended school in Chesapeake, Virginia before moving to Florida in 1949. She married in 1950 and focused on raisng her family. In 1970, with her children grown, Carolton began to pursue her lifelong desire to paint.

Carolton has had the pleasure of studying with Mr. M. Gross, Barbara Hoffman, Phil Capen, Sam Vinikoff, R. C. Bailey, and Beanie Backus. While she credits each of them with being instrumental in her development as an artist, it is Beanie Backus who had the greatest influence on her.
“My most memorable guidance came from Beanie Backus. A very special man, Beanie generously shared his knowledge with those he came in contact with. I was very fortunate to have known him, and will always cherish the time spent with this exceptional artist.”
Mrs. Barron’s artwork has been featured on the Springs River Festival‘s official shirt in 2006 and 2004. Carol was the first artist to have an exhibit at Miami Springs City Hall in March 1983, and has had featured exhibits there as recently as October, 2014.
